A Father’s Love

This is a very special Father’s Day for me. In May this year, at the age of 82, my first grandchild (a little girl) was born. I am very thankful that the Lord has blessed me to live long enough to experience this joy. We have two wonderful sons and daughters-in-law that we get to enjoy this excitement with and we want to praise the Lord continuously for giving us such a loving family.

On another very special Father’s Day a few years ago, my children made me a playlist of special Father’s Day songs that I enjoy listening to very much. One of the songs has very special meaning for me. It is “Love Without End, Amen”, written by Aaron Barker, and recorded by George Strait.

The first verse is about a boy who got in trouble at school and was afraid to tell his daddy when he got home. To the boy’s surprise, his daddy said, “Let me tell you a secret about a father’s love, A secret that my daddy said was just between us. He said, Daddies don’t just love their children every now and then. It’s a love without end, Amen. It’s a love without end, Amen.”

In the last verse, the father says he dreamed he died and was standing outside the gates of Heaven. As he remembered all the bad things he had done, he thought he would definitely not be allowed in. Then from inside, he heard these words again, “Let me tell you a secret about a Father’s love, A secret that my daddy said was just between us. He said, Daddies don’t just love their children every now and then. It’s a love without end, Amen. It’s a love without end, Amen.”

God’s love is definitely a love without end and He is a Father to Christians as shown in the following Bible verses.
Matthew 6:9 – “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in Heaven…”

Psalm 136:26 – “Give thanks to the God of Heaven. His love endures forever.”

The song, “Because He Lives”, included in this album, gives assurance to Christians that with the Lord’s help, we can face anything. Verse 2 is especially meaningful for Father’s Day. “How sweet to hold a newborn baby, and feel the pride and joy he gives, but greater still the calm assurance: This child can face uncertain days because Christ lives.”

Two tracks included in this album, “On Hitting Bottom” and “Difficulties Encountered In Ministry” are examples of how God, our Father, helps us in times of trouble.
